ABOUT ME
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerim GÜZEL
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerim Güzel graduated from Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. In September of the same year, he started his general surgery specialization in Prof, Dr. Raci Aydın’s clinic at Ankara Dr. Muhittin Ülker Training and Research Hospital. In January 2004, he completed his general surgery specialty training and started to work as a general surgery specialist at Çarşamba State Hospital.
In 2008, he received training in upper and lower gastrointestinal system endoscopy in the general surgery clinic at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Ibn-i Sina Hospital. Since 2011, he started to perform advanced laparoscopic surgeries. In 2012, he received laparoscopic colorectal surgery training at Dokuz Eylül University.
Since 2013, he started to perform bariatric surgeries requiring advanced laparoscopic experience. In 2014, he received training at IRCAD University Strasbourg – France from surgeons from USA, Brazil, India, Belgium, Italy, France who are experienced in bariatric and metabolic surgery in the world.
In 2015, he started performing metabolic surgery with the support of Prof. Dr. Sergio Santoro from Sao Paulo University in Brazil. In 2015, he received metabolic surgery training from Prof. Dr. Alper Çelik, the president of Metabolic Surgery Foundation and the first practitioner of these surgeries in Turkey. In 2016, he received revisional bariatric surgery training from Dr. Bruno Dillemans at AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruge, Belgium.
I am a member of Turkish Surgical Association, Turkish Obesity Surgery Association, Metabolic Surgery Association and IFSO (International Federation For the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders).
Between January 2010 and May 2019, I worked at Samsun Büyük Anadolu Hospital.
I am currently working as a general surgery specialist in Samsun Medicana International Hospital, especially in obesity and metabolic, advanced laparoscopic surgery, oncologic surgery.
At the same time, I continue to work in the academic field as an assistant professor at Cyprus Near East University Faculty of Medicine.
